Dr. Hoang H. Drouin does everything possible to save every tooth. Unfortunately, tooth loss is a reality for many people. Replacing missing teeth is vital for your health and appearance. Dentures have been around for hundreds of years. However, with today’s modern materials and techniques, we can provide dentures that are comfortable, natural looking, and have the highest quality – all right here in our office.
Conventional Full Dentures
When all of the natural teeth are missing, full dentures are fabricated to replace the teeth and provide support for the lips and cheeks. This allows the patient to eat and speak more comfortably, while preventing sagging facial muscles that can make a person look much older. Conventional full dentures are fabricated several weeks after all remaining teeth have been removed to allow healing to take place.
Immediate Full Dentures
Immediate full dentures are temporary dentures made from models, which are taken before the remaining teeth are extracted. The dentures can be inserted immediately after the teeth are removed, so the patient will not be without teeth for any period of time. As the gum tissue heals, it will shrink, causing the dentures to become loose over time. Therefore, two sets of dentures are made: a temporary denture to be worn immediately after extractions, followed by a conventional denture. Once healing is complete, we start the process of making a conventional full denture to ensure the most precise fit and natural look.
Implant-Supported Dentures
In certain cases, implants are placed in the bone and the dentures are made to connect directly to the implants. The dentures are then much more stable and secure.
Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture is a treatment option at Lake Norman Smiles, when only some of the natural teeth are missing. The partial denture attaches to the remaining teeth on either side by metal clasps or attachments and helps them stay in position.
